Healthcare Costs
Health Coverage and Costs are out of control
What we can do to address this issue
Dealing with problems in our healthcare system is the single biggest issue we face in our country. There are over 27 million uninsured1 people in America and half of the people buy non-group insurance through programs like the Accountable Care Act find it difficult to afford their healthcare costs.2 We know costs are out of control with the US paying double what other developed countries pay, and the quality of care is not always better.3 Further, the amount individuals and families pay for their health insurance continues has risen year over year since 1970 and, worst of all, there appears to be no end to this trend.4
It is possible that the federal government will eventually take the initiative to create a ‘Medicare For All’ system, but it is unclear how long it will be before real change occurs. Tens of millions of Americans cannot wait and need help now.
So what can individuals do today to have an impact? We can band together to create a strong voice for change. This is possible by having your family and friends join the VoiceOfThePatient community where members work together to address the top issues. Like states (or territories) that were formed as the United States grew, our ‘Patient State’ gains its strength and influence directly from the size of our community. For example, with an initial growth to 500,000 members the VoiceOfThePatient community has a population similar to several US states. Together, we will use this scale to address the tough issues with better solutions.
